Orren’s name has become synonymous with outstanding design and quality construction from forty years of innovative methods and demanding attention to detail. Throughout his career, Orren’s philosophy has remained unchanged: provide customers with the highest level of service in all areas and work diligently to offer the greatest value for every project. Orren has assembled a dedicated, experienced team of professionals at Orren Pickell Building Group who share his enthusiasm for this industry and he has been honored with more awards for design creativity and construction excellence than any builder in the Midwest. Not content to simply design and build fabulous, custom luxury homes for his clients, Orren saw the need to offer additional services, and soon the OP Trim Division, OP Maintenance Group, CabinetWerks Design Studio and the OP Remodeling Group came into existence to provide you with all manner of support and services for your luxury home. Today, Orren enjoys a well-deserved reputation as a premiere custom homebuilder, with satisfied customers and magnificent projects throughout Illinois, Wisconsin, Indiana and Michigan. Orren studied construction engineering at Bradley University where he met his wife, Tina. Orren and Tina have three children and live in Mettawa, Illinois. Orren enjoys spending time with his grandchildren, and is active with the Fuller Center, a nonprofit dedicated to helping working families achieve affordable housing.

Lisa Pickell

Chief Operating Officer

Lisa joined Orren Pickell in 2004 as Division Manager of our Remodeling Group. Her previous experience with a high-end design-build firm in Ohio provided new ideas and unique insights, and she is committed to continuing the tradition of excellence throughout the company. Lisa’s involvement in many local trade organizations, including the Homebuilders Association of Greater Chicago and the National Association of Homebuilders, culminated in her achieving the Remodeler of the Year honor, bestowed by the HBAGC in 2009. Lisa’s natural leadership skills, client-focused approach and her encompassing knowledge of the company’s processes led Orren to appoint her as Chief Operating Officer in 2010. Lisa currently oversees every aspect of the daily operations with a focus on managing the Purchasing Department to ensure the timeliness, consistency and validity of every bid. Her behind-the-scenes efforts ensures that everything goes smoothly during the designing and building of your dream home. Lisa graduated from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio with a business degree in marketing and a minor in art and architectural history. She also studied culinary arts at Kendall College. Lisa is an active member of the Executive’s Club of Chicago and a docent with the Chicago Architecture Foundation.

Eric Pickell

Project Manager

After three years of working in outside sales in the Chicagoland area, Eric has returned to Orren Pickell Building Group to develop the Remodel Lite division. He spent a year as a construction leader in AmeriCorps for Sussex County Habitat for Humanity in Delaware. Eric uses his knowledge of sales and construction to help you through the remodeling process. His primary objective is to make the building process as smooth for you as possible while exceeding your expectations. He strives to make every project an enjoyable experience for our clients and our company. Eric graduated with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Political Science from Purdue University in 2009. Eric loves working with his hands, travels as much as he can and enjoys gatherings with friends and family.

Krista Benton

Lead Cabinet Designer

Krista joined Pickell in 2012. She uses her expertise and certifications to deliver superior results to her clients. Her designs combine functionality, creativity and your individual style to create unique and inviting spaces. Her attention to detail makes your dream kitchen, bath, office, or library become a reality. Over the past several years, she has earned her Associate Kitchen and Bath Designer (AKBD) designation from the National Kitchen and Bath Association (NKBA). She has also received her Certified Aging in Place Specialist (CAPS) designation from the National Association of Homebuilders (NAHB). Most recently, Krista was named to the National Kitchen & Bath Association’s 30 Under 30 program which acknowledges outstanding young professionals while helping them to immerse and apply themselves to new opportunities for growth and development in support of the industry. ¬Krista graduated with a Bachelors of Fine Arts in Interior Design from the Illinois Institute of Art-Schaumburg. Originally from central Illinois, Krista now lives in Chicago’s western suburbs with her husband and son. She is an outdoor recreation enthusiast and has a fondness for animals of all kinds.

Kurt Savageau

Trim Carpentry Superintendent

Kurt joined Orren Pickell in 1992 as part of the company’s highly regarded construction team. Orren quickly recognized Kurt’s exceptional woodworking abilities and now this skilled craftsman is our Trim Division Superintendent, responsible for the incredible detail work that sets Pickell apart from other builders. Kurt and his talented team ensure that every cabinet and door is perfectly set and that each length of trim and molding is seamlessly aligned. These critical elements truly make each home unique and exceptional, and Kurt is known for his scrutiny of every room before he considers his work complete. This attention to detail is what will truly set your dream home apart from the rest. Kurt’s knowledge of materials and their most appropriate applications can also help you select the ideal look and feel for your luxury home. When not picking the best materials for your luxury home project, Kurt enjoys spending time with his three grandchildren and riding his motorcycle. He also tries to get away fishing as much as possible.

Chelsea Garcia

Design Assistant

Chelsea joined the Pickell team in 2014 in the role of Design Assistant. Her attention to detail and can-do attitude makes her a great fit for both assisting the Architecture and Cabinetry teams. Her roles span from permit coordinating to closet design. Chelsea Graduated in 2009 from Harrington College with her Associates degree in Interior Design. When not working, she enjoys biking, anything outdoors, or reading a good book.
